I’m excited to see how composers, producers, and songwriters will use this technology to create new works and reimagine classics for drivers. MBUX SOUND DRIVE represents a new frontier in music creation and offers fresh, interactive listening experiences for drivers.”
Introducing MBUX SOUND DRIVE
Mercedes-AMG will launch MBUX SOUND DRIVE in mid-2024. This innovative feature will be available for Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Benz vehicles with the AMG Line, equipped with the second generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system.
At this year’s CES, the partnership revealed Sound Drive, a groundbreaking technology that creates music based on driving data. By collecting information from every sensor and input, and plotting it on a digital audio workstation (DAW), it translates the driving experience into music. Mercedes announced that MBUX SOUND DRIVE will be offered in two trim levels: Standard and Pinnacle. The base model, starting at $85,050, includes Nappa leather trim, a Burmester 3D surround sound system, and a 64-color ambient lighting system.
Utilizing a suite of sensors and advanced software, MBUX SOUND DRIVE interprets various driving actions—such as recuperation, acceleration, steering, and braking—and converts them into musical expressions, allowing drivers to ‘compose’ music in real-time as they drive.
“At Mercedes-Benz, we strive to bring joy to our customers through digital innovation and exciting new features that enhance every journey. With MBUX SOUND DRIVE, AMG drivers can control their music in an entirely new way, making in-car entertainment far more immersive,” said Markus Schäfer, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG and Chief Technology Officer.
